Last Friday, Half the Sky supporters gathered in a sunlit room at the Rotary Summit Club in downtown San Jose to celebrate the first ever Silicon Valley Half the Sky Community Celebration.
The event was generously sponsored by Foxconn, the world’s largest maker of electronic components. Over 150 community and business leaders joined to hear from a Half the Sky nanny who wrote of the miraculous changes she sees in children after they join Half the Sky’s Infant Nurture Program. Jenny Bowen, Half the Sky’s CEO & Founder, also talked about the positive changes she has seen in institutionalized children in the decade the foundation has been working in China. Guest speaker Sally Osberg, President of Skoll Foundation, explained that Half the Sky is perfectly poised to dramatically scale up its impact on orphaned children in China. She believes the future is bright indeed… as do we.
