A LETTER FROM QINGDAO
Dear Jenny and Half the Sky,
Thanks to you, the Qingdao Children’s Welfare Institution is celebrating a wonderful anniversary today. Last year, on this day, we started our work with Half the Sky. Now four seasons have passed and I have so much wonderful news to share.
Our dear friends, almost 200 orphans were helped by Half the Sky’s programs. Time flies so fast! You have brought so many big surprises to us – more and more free voices, more and more happy children’s eyes – our children have more love and more hope….
— QianChuan, a 2 year old who has been diagnosed with autism said “MaMa” for the first time three months after joining the Infant Nurture Program.
— QianHai, is a 16 month-old boy with deformed limbs who could only wriggle a little on the floor mats After six months, when I saw him play with a flower basket with his right index finger, scooting forward while sitting on his bottom, laughing loudly, and saying “Mama” to his loving Nanny, my eyes filled with tears.
— YuLin, a one-year-old child with cerebral palsy, after eight months in your program, does what every child does. He can speak, smile, play games, and make faces with his Nanny and friends.
— 9-year-old TianTian also has cerebral palsy. She is in our Little Sisters preschool class and, thanks to the nonstop efforts of her teachers, she can now walk on her own without crutches.
— 7-year-old WenSheng speaks with great difficulty, but the day he said: “You are the best,” to his teacher impressed us all deeply.
At our Blue Sky home, such stories happen almost every day. We are so lucky to be able to witness the hope and the happy stories that result when children are given unconditional love.
Dear friends, I am so proud to represent all the staff and the children in expressing our best regards and deepest thanks to the Half the Sky family.
During the past 365 days and nights together we painted a beautiful and full-of-hope future for our children with your hard work and professional attitude. Every activity children attended, including community tours and games with neighbors, every success they achieved, every brilliant discovery they made, will become an unforgettable part of the children’s progress reports. I firmly believe our future hard work will bring more exciting results for our children.
This day is a festival belonging to us!!!
I wish you all health, happy family and long life with my great respects!
I wish that Half the Sky will create a beautiful life for more children!
I wish that our friendship will be everlasting!
I wish that our children grow up healthily and create more miracles!
Yours truly,
RongHua, Zhang,
Qingdao Children Welfare Institution
